Doctor's visit today was not as exciting as I had hoped. 50% efaced but no dilation. My weight is nuts with water weight gain but he says I am okay. Also there was a bit of protein in my urine and my pressure was higher than usual. He said I am good to wait until my next appointment to see how things are going.
He is cautious about the baby's weight but not ready to act on it so as always time will tell.
Otherwise, things are good. Just waiting.

Nursery is Done
The chair was delivered yesterday! So we put the finishing touches on the baby's room, for now. I am sure there will be enhancements as time goes on but for now I can't fiddle around in there anymore.
The last picture is Keith showing off his new guitar skills to Missy. Who by the way not only loves hearing him play the guitar and whistle the MASH theme but has already taking a liking to my new chair and the carpet in the nursery.

Wishing and Hoping
Weight gain = 3 lbs in one week.
Blood pressure = 120/80
Exam = external, not internal due to my strep issues and worries of making the infection worse.
Evaluation of issues = it's normal to not be able to feel your finger tips at this stage.
Dr. guess of baby size = 8 lbs. yep, now not at due date
Ultrasound Info
Measure of baby's belly = 40 wks
Head = I believe the tech said wow that is a big head
Overall weight calc = 8lb 12 oz
SERIOUSLY - I hope they are wrong!!!
That's all until next week. Here's hoping this kid decides to bless us over the next week so we don't have to discuss induction or a c-section.

37 Weeks
Our doctor's visit was on Wednesday this week so it was a short week between visits. I tested positive for strep so that means antibiotics will be administered when my water breaks to get rid of it before the baby makes the trip into this world. Supposedly this is common - 40% of women have it when pregnant.
The baby is still in position and I am still measuring ahead. No trip under the hood this visit. After the doctor pushed around my belly and stuff he believes this baby to be around 7 lbs. already. Fabulous - that is bigger than either of us when we were born. The ultrasound next week will tell him more. Oh and the baby hates going to the doctor - it is agitated the rest of the day after we go there.
No other real news....I am uncomfortable but seem to be sleeping better than the past few weeks. I have completely lost my mind. Forgetful, clumsy, etc. We had lunch at Arby's last weekend and without my knowledge I somehow put cheese in my hair that my darling husband had to get out with a napkin and it was crusty! I am a mess.
Three day weekend coming up for both of us. I suppose I should pack a bag for the hospital and finish up some stuff around the house before there isn't any more time to do such things. I am determined we will go to the movies at least once this weekend and out to dinner.
We will watch football too but after the Cowboy's loss last weekend my prediction that Keith was going to have to watch them in the SuperBowl from the hospital isn't coming true so I don't care as much. However, for once in my life I will cheer for the Packer's - can't stand the Giants (sorry James) and do not want the Patriots to win the whole thing. It's all just baby steps to getting closer to pitcher/catchers reporting to Spring Training!!!

36 weeks
Friday was the beginning of my weekly doctor appointments. As Keith likes to say, the doctor "went under the hood" to check my progress. The head is down. My cervix has softened which he said was good at this point and is still thinking a week early. Now, we all know this baby has a mind of it's own so God and baby are the only ones who know when we will be blessed with the arrival.
I am measuring on track, weight is okay considered all of the swelling - however I swear to all who will listen that I will never weigh this much again in my life. I am having some cramping and random contractions but nothing to get excited about.
The car seat is in the car - we just need someone to check it out. Btw, our car was made the year before the Latch system was required....I am not happy about it but what can we do. I am not nuts enough to think we need a new car. I am sure it will be fine.
Thursday my office gave me a baby shower since I will be working from home from now on they had to do it now I guess. It was nice and thoughtful of all of them to pool together for some baby stuff. We were very happy with the gifts.
My chair is in but can not be delivered until the 26th - which stinks because I could sit in it while I work at home. Keith bought me a very nice lap desk thing from Brookstone to help me be comfortable while working from home. It would defeat the purpose if I sat at the kitchen table all day since sitting at my desk is killing me.
Next doctor appointment is Wednesday - short week this week but then the following Wednesday is the doctor and an ultrasound so that is exciting.

General Baby Info
We have completed the nursery as much as we feel should be done before the bundle of joy arrives since it won't be sleeping in there right away. Yesterday we got the car seat and a bassinet. It's hard to believe we are 5 weeks from my due date. Then again, I am not sleeping hardly at all and everything hurts so it is easy to believe I am 5 weeks away.
Friday will start my weekly appointments and I am really going to try and update this the evening after each appointment. We are to the point that if I neglect this site no one will know anything until the baby arrives.
At my last appointment the doctor said the head is down and I am progressing right on track. Hopefully on Friday he will have more to say.
We toured the hospital where I plan to deliver. Palisades Medical Center is affiliated with Columbia and seems nice enough. The coolest part is that my room will have a view of Manhattan....I am sure I won't care once I am there but on the tour I thought it was cool. It will take us about 45 minutes to get to the hospital so that should be fun.

Holiday Activities
The baking bug bit me again between Thanksgiving and Christmas......one Sunday I decided to bake 5 different types equally about 20 dozen cookies. Then I packaged them up for our landlords, each of our offices, Scottie in Iraq and our own. Well, I learned that a woman as pregnant as I am should not do something so silly. They were yummy but by the end of the day I could barely stand. I didn't think about all the time on my feet! Oops. It will go on the list of things that I did this pregnancy that I should not repeat next time.
Just like our trip to the city to see the Rockette's at Radio City. The show was cute and definitely something everyone should do once as a NYC event. However, after a day at work and then running around the city for the show plus dinner I was beat!!!
Another fun day was going down to see The Scheiner's to celebrate Lauren's 1st bday, Christmas and the baby. We drove down and spent the day hanging out with them. Jessica and Brad made us a yummy dinner and gave us wonderful gifts. Then we watched Lauren (who was sleeping) while they attended the neighborhood holiday party. Unfortunately, she woke up and was not happy to see either one of us. After an hour we called Jess to come home - our first babysitting experience and we kinda failed. So at midnight we drove the two hours home so Keith could be home for his flag football championship game.
The game didn't end well for his team......it was very disappointing for them to fall behind with 11 seconds remaining and that then was it. However, last year they didn't make this far so they should be very proud of themselves. It was Keith's last competitive game.

Christmas/New Year's
Christmas in Jersey was very quiet. We stayed home for a homemade prime rib dinner and to exchange gifts. Since we bought the video camera over Thanksgiving we kept Christmas to minimum. I got Keith a camouflage diaper bag - he insists he needs his own and he got me a mother/child pendant (sea turtles - very cool and unusual, like me!). After dinner we were invited upstairs for dessert with our landlords and their family. Well, we went up a bit too early and had to eat another dinner - why do people think a pregnant lady needs to keep eating when she says she is full? Then we did have dessert and presents. They got us a few things for the baby. Duke and Kris are expecting too and due a month after us. Their sister in law is pregnant too and due a couple days after Kris. We took a pictures of all the bellies and I won! We have a print out of the picture so I am going to try and take a picture of it and post it cuz it is really cute.
The weekend after Christmas we flew Nicolas (my brother's oldest) out for the weekend. It was fun to have a 14 year old with us for a few days. We did a bunch of tourist stuff with him and Keith took him to the Poconos for some snow boarding. Originally they were going to brave Time Square but after the crowds on Saturday they decided against it. So, it was pizza, Scrabble and watching the fireworks from the living room window instead. All in all it was a great time!
